You call it video, you're full of...

Check out this live video of Minor Threat's "In My Eyes." The sound sucks, but I love how intimate the show clearly was. So the only question is, which is the better song, In My Eyes or Filler? I vote In My Eyes.

Gotta go with Filler, then In My Eyes. Small Man/Big Mouth, Bottled Violence, Minor Threat . . . such a great album.

Next time I go through the Sunday School teacher's aide rotation, I oughta slip Sob Story or Out of Step into the music rotation between "Noah's Arky" and "Here is the Church, Here is the Steeple."
It's a tough world out there, and the wee lambs could use a little MacKaye.

I suppose if the view of your church is that Jesus was a revolutionary/rabblerouser, then MacKaye would fit right in.

Well, funny you should mention it. Here's a bit from one of our rector's recent sermons (Proper 22, Year B/18th Sunday aft. Pentecost, to put it into context):

"For the longest time I thought of Jesus simply as gentle, kind and mild-mannered - kind of like a bearded and long haired Mr. Rogers. But let's be honest - who would want to crucify Mr. Rogers? If you don't like Mr. Rogers, you ignore him, you don't nail him to a cross.

No, Jesus wasn't just a mild mannered push-over. He had a propensity to offend, particularly when he had reached the end of his rope with people who used their religion to prove themselves and control others, rather than to humble themselves and love others."

Bring on the hardcore.

And the similarities with the Straight Edge types....

There may be Straight Edge Whiskeypalians somewhere, but I haven't seen any in my zipcode.
