We built this city

My buddy Matt runs a website called PDXBands. Can you guess what it is about? OK, I'll help. It is a place to showcase lesser known bands with a strong emphasis on 503. Matt put up a Podcast of some music that he likes, it is very prominent on the homepage. Bands include Crack City Rockers (clever!) and a band that actually drops the c-bomb. Not at all common in the States but as common as "hello" over in the UK. Neill you in particular will like it as it will allow you to say things like "yeah, I've been listening to Elephant Factory a lot these days."

Nice Starship reference...in the shitty little town I grew up in, the only rock bands that came through while I was in high school were (no lie), Steppenwolf, Night Ranger and yes, Starship, all obviously past their prime. Those boring, drugged out rockers going through the motions and singing lame-ass songs bought and paid for by huge corporate record companies defined why I sought out "college music," and MTV's 120 Minutes for salvation. Maybe some poor 16 year old girl fed up with Jessica Simpson, American Idol and rap-star-of-the-minute music is perusing pdxbands right now looking for the band that will save her.

My town (or one of the ones next to it) was "famous" for having the smallest venue in which the Dead would play. The hippies came out to play for sure. Phish continued the tradition and even put out a live album called "Hampton Comes Alive"

I shouldn't bitch, we had a smaller club that got good bands, at least four or five steps over Night Ranger.

Ok, that's pretty funny. They namecheck some Star Wars in the song titles. Are they the band that had all SW songs like "He's no good to me dead" and "The emperor is not as forgiving as I am"

Yeah I think you are right. Did you listen to the Podcast? Some decent stuff in there. Matt laments the lack of hip-hop.

I wonder if the fans all come out in costume. It would be sweet if the Rebels were on one side and the Empire on the other. Even more sweet if they had different dance moves. I feel like a big loser right now.
