Thom Yorke is on my side

I generally am none too keen on Radiohead, but I heard this cover for the Headmaster Ritual and thought it was A+. Great job on the non-obvious cover.

This raises the long standing question of the ultimate Smiths song. Despite love for This Charming Man, I vote for Cemetry Gates.

Although it's not the most "Smiths" of Smiths songs, 'How Soon Is Now?' was the one that did it for me. I remember the moment I first heard it and it probably set me on the path of listening to the type of music I have for the rest of my life. No I am not overstating.

Hmmm, musically it is a bit of an outlier, although a good one. Lyrically I think it fits well. I too recall my experience, on MTV when I believe it was mislabeled "How Soon is Soon?"

My "How Soon is Soon" has to be Big Black's Steelworker.

Drum machine? Check.

Guitar like a sack full of
wolverines? Check.

Lyrics that you don't want your kids to catch you singing to yourself? Check, check.

Strangely, when I find myself going for the Moz impersonation, "There is a Light and It Never Goes Out" is my go to song. It is probably in my top ten, but in the lower half.
