Those days are gone forever

Yesterday was the non-official first of day of summer. What could be more appropriate than a pensive, reflective song to kick it off? Here is Don Henley's Boys of Summer.

I never get tired of that song, despite its ubiquity. I mean, I would never intentionally put it on the stereo (I don't even own a copy), but I will NEVER turn to another station if it comes on the radio.

Compare this with my reaction to Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock and Roll", an equally overplayed song, yet one actually hurts my skin, not just my ears, when I hear it.

Are there any songs that inspire this sort of rage in you? Radio Rage, if you will?

On a more positive note, they're playing Check Your Head (the entire, excellent cd)in the coffee shop where I'm sitting/working right now. This, of course, is the opposite of Radio Rage.

I am sad to admit that I have lots of songs on my radio rage list. The biggest is that "Come come my lady, you my butterfly, sugar, baby." Oh how I hate it.

I also never want to hear "Jane Say" ever again.
