When I saw mention of movie called the
White Countess set in 1930s Shanghai and involving White Russians and intrigue, I figured it must be an adaptation of the excellent
Master of Rain by Tom Bradby. Turns out it is even better, the script was written by Kazuo Ishiguro apparently not long after he finished his Shanghai-set
When We Were Orphans. Sounds like a winner.
